Georgia Home Sales Down, But Demand Still HIgh

Although home sales across the Atlanta area and around the country were down slightly in April, it wasn't due to lack of demand. While demand remains strong, the low inventory of homes on the market and rising prices remain the biggest challenges to home sales. Homes available for sale continue to go under contract quickly. In April, the median number of days a new listing typically stayed on the market was 26 days, the lowest since tracking began in 2011. The median price of an existing home rose to $257,900, up 5.3% over the median price in April 2017.
