Georgia Property Tax Burden Near Middle of the 50 US States

According to a recent report on real estate taxes, Georgia ranks near the middle of the 50 states when it comes to the effective property tax burden shouldered by residents at 0.91%. Residents of Hawaii had the lowest effective real estate tax rate at 0.27%, while residents of New Jersey had the highest effective real estate tax rate at 2.47%.  Taxes on a home valued at the median home price in Georgia of $166,800 had an average property tax burden of $1,510.
