More Americans Believe That It's A Good Time to Buy a Home

According to the Fannie Mae Home Purchase Sentiment Index, more US consumers are confident that now is a good time to buy a home than at this time last year. The share of consumers who believe that it's a good time to buy a new home across the country rose ten percentage points compared to last year's numbers. The Home Purchase Sentiment Index rose to 88.3 in March, up overall from 84.5 in March 2017, and reversing a decrease of 3.7 points in February 2018. The Fannie Mae Home Purchase Sentiment Index is distilled from Fannie Mae's National Housing Survey, in which 1000 Americans are interviewed via telephone and asked about their expectations regarding the US housing market.
