Mortgage Rates Fall Slightly For First Time In Nine Weeks

After this week's Consumer Price Index indicated that increases in overall inflation may be slowing a bit, the average 30 year mortgage rate fell two basis points to 4.44% in the latest Primary Mortgage Market Survey, after nine consecutive weeks of home mortgage rate increases. The Primary Mortgage Market Survey is published by Freddie Mac. It remains to be seen whether this trend will continue or if, as most mortgage market analysts expect, Atlanta area homebuyers and homeowners wishing to refinance their mortgages across the state of Georgia will face higher home mortgage rates in the coming months.
