Percentage of Renters Increases in Atlanta

Although there has been an increase in the number of young adults purchasing homes in recent years, the overall percentage of renters in cities across the country, including Atlanta, continues to increase, according to a recent Zillow study. Rising home prices and low inventory have made it more difficult for renters to purchase homes. In addition, many young adults are waiting to start families and to purchase homes until they are older. 36 percent of Americans were renters in 2016, up from 31% in 2006. In Atlanta, the percentage of renters increased from 50.4% in 2006 to 58.7% in 2016.
