Atlanta Median Home Prices Growing Faster than National Rate

Accoring to a RE/MAX Georgia report, Atlanta area median home prices saw significant year-over-year growth, rising 8.6 percent-- from $199,900 in January 2017 to $217,000 in January 2018.  During the same period, the national median home price grew at a lower rate of 6.7%.

Home prices in Fulton County led the Atlanta metro area market, increasing 18% year over year, from $260,000 in January 2017 to $307,500 in January 2018.  THe median sales prie in DeKalb County followed, with a 16% increase.  Cobb County median home prices posted a 9% increase, while the median sales price in Gwinnett County increased by 6%.  The median sales price in Clayton County decreased slightly year over year from $125,000 in January 2017 to $124,500 in January 2018.

Median home sales prices in the metro Atlanta area are expected to continue rising as the inventory of homes on the market is expected to remain tight, with demand increasing in the upcoming spring homebuying season.
