Economists Increase Expectations for 2019 Housing Market

Although economists late last year expected a lackluster 2019 housing market in Georgia and around the country, slower growth in home mortgage interest rates has led many economists to increase their expectations. Late in 2018, the Fed signaled that it will be likely to raise rates more slowly in 2019 despite the strong economy. One housing research group associated with Freddie Mac now expects interest rates to average 4.6% in 2019, down from previous expectations of 5.1%, making homes less affordable and providing a boost to the housing market.
